Keeping Your Inflatable Air Bed Hole-Free
While inflatable air beds are abundant in terms of the perks they provide, they do come with their fair share of downfalls. One of their most significant downfalls is their vulnerability to sustaining punctures. Most would agree that a punctured air bed is as good as no air bed. Fortunately, there are several preventive measures you can take to keep your air bed in prime condition.
The most important thing you can do to ensure that your inflatable air bed lives a long life and healthy life is keeping it clear of sharp objects. Although this may sound easy, you might be surprised at the number of people who’ve damaged their air beds by accidentally misplacing a pair of scissors near it. The first time you bring your air bed home, inform your whole family to steer clear of it while handling sharp objects. Also, ask them to move a sharp object shall they find that it is placed near the air bed. If everyone works cooperatively, chances are good that you will avoid any air bed mishaps.
The next, and most often overlooked issue that has caused a countless number of air bed leaks is that of an uneven floor. By an uneven floor, we don’t mean one that’s slightly slanted. Rather, we are referring to floors that are littered with small rocks and what not. If you don’t sweep or vacuum the floor which your air bed will reside on, you risk puncturing it from underneath. While one puncture is severe on its own, small objects which disturb the evenness of a floor have the ability to cause multiple punctures. These are much harder to address than a sole hole.
High temperatures and keeping your air bed in good condition don’t come hand in hand. If you’re considering keeping your air bed for a few good years, keep it away from any sources of heat. Constant exposure to heat will cause your air bed do deflate more often than normal. The added strain of having to constantly re-fill your bed will make it more prone to leaks. Not only will you place your air bed at more of a risk for developing leaks, but you will also contribute to the deterioration of the bed’s air pump.
Finally, your air bed storage preferences play a major role in your bed’s condition. Air beds should be stored in their provided container (typically a bag) atop a shelf, far from any disturbances which could damage them. If you don’t like the idea of having your air bed take up a bunch of shelf space, you should consider air packaging the bed. Air-packaging will allow you to store the bed in a much smaller space, thus making it less of a storage nuisance.
It is our hope that the above has enriched your knowledge on the measures you should take to keep your inflatable air bed in optimal condition. If you follow the above advice, we guarantee that you will be protecting your air bed investment. Try to deviate from the above advice as little as possible. The more you veer from the above suggestions, the greater the chances are that you will damage your air bed.
