Pets and Inflatable Air Beds

Numerous people have allowed their pets to interact with their inflatable air bed to find that the combination was less than promising. Despite what you may have heard, air beds are not equipped to handle your pet’s antics. If you allow you pet to do to what they wish to your air bed, you risk losing it altogether. Thus, it is best to take some preventative measures to ensure that your pet won’t wreak havoc on your inflatable air bed.

The first and most obvious step you should take to keep your air bed from suffering at the hands of your pet is to keep a good distance between the two. Anytime your air bed is in use, keep your pet a good distance away from it. If you’ve placed the bed inside a bedroom, it might be smart to completely block your pet’s access to the room. If you’re forced to put the bed in another part of the house, be sure to keep a good eye on your pet.

Some people don’t have the luxury of being able to keep their pets off their inflatable air beds. If this is the case with you, we recommend covering your bed with at least one thick blanket. This blanket should keep your pet’s nails from penetrating the air bed’s vinyl. If your pet has a tendency to bite everything he or she sees, try to make sure that the blanket extends beyond the bed’s edges. Tuck the ends of the blanket under the bed.

Dogs can pose a danger to your air bedAs long as you allow your pet to lounge on your air bed, you need to ensure that their nails are trimmed. Although covering your bed with a blanket will dampen its chances of sustaining damage, it won’t completely eliminate the possibility. When your pet’s nails have grown far too long, be sure to take a trip to the veterinarian. The trip will be beneficial to both you and your pet.

Pets aren’t limited in their ability to damage things when they’re stored away. Thus, you need to choose an appropriate location to store you inflatable air bed when it is not in use. We recommend storing your bed atop a shelf – where it is completely out of your pet’s reach.
